Shades of Grey

Thu, 09/12/2019 - 10:00 | by PEAK Team

A black-and-white color palette with modern and vintage touches.

Inspired by the bucolic setting and rustic aesthetic of The Borsari Gallery, Cape Cod Celebrations' Jamie Bohlin and Stephanie Eldredge Diaz designed a styled editorial centered on a monochromatic color palette. Featuring plenty of white, grey and black hues, the design blended seamlessly with the style of the historic gallery, offering the perfect combination of vintage appeal and contemporary sophistication.

Describe this look in 3 words.

"Unexpected, Rustic, Garden"

Tell us about this design and what inspired you to create this look.

We wanted to marry the look of a classic, black and white wedding with rustic New England touches to create an elegant, yet relaxed tablescape. With the white paned doors of the historic Borsari Gallery on one side and stone walls on the other, we were able to mimic the textures, vintage feel and monochromatic color scheme of the site in our design.

What were some unique details and PEAK rentals you used to create this look?

The Giulietta Floral Dinner Plates added a romantic, antique touch, and the floral pattern of each plate served as inspiration for the custom menus and escort cards by Modern Vintage Design Studio. Beach Plum Event & Floral Design designed a stunning centerpiece with blooms in muted color tones, including our favorite New England (and Cape Cod) flower, hydrangea. Anemones complemented or monochromatic color scheme, while dusty pink garden roses added a soft and welcome touch of color. As a “substitute” for placemats, we layered together two Cecil Precast Table Runners, which resulted in a textural effect that provided visual interest and dimension to our tablescape. For a modern effect, we added black flatware and sleek, Pure Stemware.

What are a few of your top decorating tips for fall events?

Stephanie: Mixing textures and patterns like plaid linens with leather, wood and other natural elements is fun way to elevate any fall look.

Jamie: Color! The change of seasons brings beautiful new colors to Cape Cod (and New England). Don’t be afraid to add bold autumnal tones at your event.

Do you have a favorite PEAK product or linen you love using at your events?

Jamie: I love using the Wooden Table Lids with a fun linen underneath to bring a style to the bar without having it be all wood. I also have been loving the Tissue Metallic linens lately, which add a touch of elegance to tables without going overboard with metallics.

Stephanie: I am in love with the line of Ibiza linens. The texture of these linens is subtle and Ibiza’s versatility allows for them to be used at both upscale and understated event. And the colors are beautiful!

Describe your design aesthetic/philosophy at Cape Cod Celebrations.

At Cape Cod Celebrations, we believe that “Your Vision is Our Brand,” which means that we work with each client to ensure their design aesthetic is brought to life and emulates their style, personality and theme. We love designing at the PEAK showrooms so that we can experience the product in person with our clients—it’s always fun to bring their vision to life when we do a mockup!

Stephanie: I think we are going to continue to see clients embracing natural elements in their event design: floral chandeliers, floral walls, floral arbors and “living” tablescapes, whether it’s as simple as sprigs of greens in a napkin or over-the-top arrangements.

Jamie: The fall on Cape Cod invites warm hues of cranberry and green. These tones will certainly make an appearance in weddings (and events), whether it’s through florals, linens or even in cozy plaid blanket scarves for the bridesmaids and guests!
